What if we could go around the world in 6 hours?
Seen on Fast Company is an innovation that is sure to warm the heart of many frequent travelers: Evacuated Tube Transport. The above video is a product of Colorado-based firm ET3 which thinks that the future of transport can be found in airless vacuum tubes. Apparently, this system can travel up to 6,500 KM/hour, meaning that travel between New York and Los Angeles could be reduced to a mere 45 minutes! What’s more the system is inexpensive and comfortable for travelers. ET3 will be conducting a test run on 3 miles of tube by the end of 2013.
Not to be outdone, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla motors, is developing the Hyperloop a solar-powered underground tunnel that could go from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 30 minutes. He is considering putting a patent on the idea. The future is in a series of tubes!
