What if you joined Spike Lee and will.i.am at the MASSIVEGOOD launch?

This Thursday, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, in the presence of Bill Clinton and Ban Ki Moon, will be the official “first click” of the MASSIVEGOOD movement.  MASSIVEGOOD allows travelers to donate $2 (or more) each time they buy a plane ticket. The $2 goes to the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB as well as to improving maternal and child health in the developing world.  Thanks to the participation of key actors in the tourism industry, through the GDS reservation systems Amadeus, Galileo and Sabre, American travel agents (and soon, travel agents from other countries) will be able to offer this voluntary micro-contribution not only for purchasing plane tickets, but also when renting a car or reserving a hotel room.  Soon, online travel sites (like Travelocity) and airlines will integrate MASSIVEGOOD.  The funds raised will go to Unitaid, an organization that manages the airline tax that is available in some 20 countries (including France).

A great number of celebrities have shown their support for this initiative.  The agency Fred&Farid has partnered with TBWA on this project, and they thought up a very moving short film, shot in New York and directed by Spike Lee.  Featuring Mary J. Blige, Susan Sarandon, Samuel L. Jackson, writer Paul Auster and physicist Dr. Brian Greene (see above photo)—this spot entitled “Masterpieces”, shows the power of many small contributions.  As far as music is concerned, Black Eyed Peas singer will.i.am is currently producing the MASSIVEGOOD anthem with a host of (very) well-known artists.  will.i.am will make an appearance tonight, at the MASSIVEGOOD Studio party.

Even if you’re not travelling, you can still give do MASSIVEGOOD in 5 different ways:

Thanks for your help.
