What if you followed me, Richard Branson, Barack Obama, and Arianna Huffington?

At 9 AM Eastern Daylight Time, LinkedIn launched their new social platform based on getting insights and ideas from thought leaders (for more information, see Wired, Fast Company, and Forbes).  Where once LinkedIn users could only connect with each other, they can now choose to follow personalities who will be regularly contributing articles exclusive to the social network. For the moment, LinkedIn has selected 150 people including Barack Obama, Mitt Romney, Arianna Huffington, and Richard Branson. Right now I am one of three French people in the current crop of influencers, together with Jacques Attali and Bernard Ourghanlian.  My first post, “What if negative ads meant bad news for democracy?” addresses negative advertising in the US election. Soon, LinkedIn hopes to expand from the 150 thought leaders to include others who wish to create original content and those whose work are already widely read and shared on the platform.
