15 years after a mythic game between fierce local rivals Easton High School and Phillipsburg High School that finished in a 7-7 tie, Gatorade decided to replay the game in front of 20,000 spectators. Everything is as it was in 1993: Same players, same coach, same cheerleaders—15 years later.
The second time around, there is a winner. Actually, there are 2 winners: Gatorade benefitted by recreating a “historic” event that drew up media attention. The below video of a station replaying the game testifies to the earned media presence that this creative idea garnered.
