What if we joined an unsocial network?
Have you heard of Unsocial? It’s the social (?) network that connects you to people who aren’t yet your friends! It’s just been launched in San Francisco in Beta version and will be progressively rolled out worldwide. Unsocial wants to end the incestuous nature of traditional social networks that connects you with people you already know. The British novelist Charles Reade once said “a stranger’s eyes see the clearest”—this is the idea behind Unsocial—it connects you to perfect strangers, who might be perfect for you. As their slogan says “It’s not who you know, it’s who you need to know.”
How does it work? It’s easy. Unsocial is an iPhone (or Android) app that crosses your LinkedIn data with your criteria for meeting people. The network then proposes users other likeminded members that might be of interest to them.
If the proposition interests you, just send a message to make contact. So, interested in expanding your blogging, journalist, sociologist or advertising network? Then join Unsocial
and at the next conference that you’ll attend, the application will offer you lots of new contacts complementary to your profile at the place you are (if you’re geo-localized). Off to the unknown! 😉
