What if we could be proud in spite of defeat?
Thanks to @xaviermaldant for the tweet that inspired this post.
This hardworking French athlete is a breath of fresh air compared to the antics of the French soccer team during this World Cup! Although the tennis match was stopped for the second time on Wednesday night at a 59-59 score, Nicolas Mahut ceded on Thursday, after 1 hour and 15 minutes of struggle against the 6 foot 9 inch American giant, John Isner. This was the longest match in the history of tennis, totaling 11 hours and 5 minutes, finishing with an incredible score of 70 to 68.
Despite a French defeat, I think these two worthy adversaries and their feat of endurance deserve our respect!
