What if Google took the drivers seat?
Thank you to Anne-Sophie Robert for sending me this article New York Times this Saturday (and taken up by French media). Google took advantage of the Paris Auto Show to announce the results experimented in real conditions by 7 auto-pilot cars who undertook over 1000 miles without any human intervention and over 140,000 miles with occasional human intervention. The cars are equipped with various captors and follow a programmed GPS itinerary. The GPS system also manages the speed of the cars, which is limited by the speed limit. Thus far, there have been no accidents, aside from one car getting rear-ended by a vehicle less sophisticated than it! 😉
