What if good advertising was as simple as crossing the street?
When ROMTELECOM, a Romanian telecom operator, moved store locations, they asked BBDO Romania to help them spread the word. Taking advantage of the busy intersection next to the new store, special ROMETELECOM “movers” (really, more like back-up dancers) choreographed a dance in the middle of the crosswalk closest to the store. Thanks to some strategically marked boxes and a catchy dance lasting the same amount of time as the red light, this communication operation became an overnight viral hit in Romania.
Urban crosswalks were also an inspiration for the agency TBWA in Switzerland, who thought up the above operation for McDonald’s in Zurich. This was also a major hit on local blogs.
This goes to show that a strong idea and a creative understanding of avenues of communications can go along way in spreading the word!
