Art student Markus Kayser has created an ingenious project designed to address energy concerns.  Called Solar Sinter, desert sunlight and sand are used as sources of raw energy to produce glass objects.  Thanks to a 3D printing process that combines solar energy with the abundance of sand.  According to his website, Solar Sinter should be seen as “a point of departure for fresh thinking” about renewable sources of energy.  Brilliant!

This morning, I had the pleasure to attend the screening of all the shortlisted Films for the 2011 Cannes Lion festival.  I wanted to share with you my personal favorite from this year, by 180 Amsterdam, advocating for children of divorced parents.  This film will not be eligible for the Grand Prix as it’s entered in the “Public Awareness Messages” category…
